We are pleased to announce that Covilhã will host the European Universities Handball Championship 2025, a remarkable sport and cultural event taking place from July 22nd to July 28th, 2025. Delegations are expected to arrive on July 21st, with the official closing ceremony and departure scheduled for July 29th.

This prestigious international event will bring together approximately 600 participants, including 12 men’s teams and 12 women’s teams, referees, delegates, and team members, representing universities from across Europe. During one week, Covilhã will become a hub of intense competition and a celebration of European unity through sports, fostering cultural exchange and sport excellence.

This event is the result of a partnership between the Organizing Committee, the University of Beira Interior (UBI), the Academic Association of the University of Beira Interior (AAUBI), the Municipality of Covilhã (CMC), the Portuguese University Sports Federation (FADU), and the European University Sports Association (EUSA).
